In the month of February of 1980, the OSI model was launched. As a result, it has been standardised as
802.XX. The number '80' refers for the year 1980, while the number '2' stands for the month of February.
IEEE 802 is a set of networking standards that covers the physical and data-link layer specifications for Ethernet and wireless technologies. Local area networks (LANs) and metropolitan area networks (MANs) are covered by these specifications (MAN). IEEE 802 also helps to ensure multi-vendor interoperability by encouraging companies to adopt standards.
Essentially, the IEEE 802 standards ensure that internet services and technology adhere to a set of best practises so that network devices can communicate effectively.
