A laptop
display is labelled with a variety of letters: LCD, LED, VGA, CCFL, XVGA, and VGA. It's critical to keep those separate. Laptop monitors are all liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) using either LED or CCFL light sources. Cold cathode fluorescent lamps, or CCFLs, are a type of lighting that is used to project an image onto an LCD screen.
LEDs (light-emitting diodes) produce light in a similar fashion to CCFLs, but in a different method. LEDs can be put at intervals around the screen, making displays thinner and lighter, whereas CCFLs tend to project light from a bulb in the rear of the screen.
