The main purpose of an operating system:
- The backup store, as well as peripherals such as scanners and printers, are all controlled by this programme.
- It has to do with moving programmes in and out of memory.
- Organizes memory usage between processes.
- It divides processing time between users and programmes.
- Maintains user security and access privileges.
- Errors and user instructions are dealt with.
- Allows users to save files to a backup location.
