An overview
Microsoft Paint is a simple raster graphics editor with all versions of Microsoft Windows. The program opens and saves files in Windows bitmap (BMP), JPEG, GIF, PNG, and single-page TIFF formats.
The program can be in color mode or two-color black-and-white, but there is no grayscale mode.

For its simplicity and that it is included with Windows, it rapidly became one of the most used applications in the early versions of Windows, introducing many to painting on a computer for the first time.
It is still widely used for simple image manipulation tasks.
In July 2017, Microsoft added Paint to the list of deprecated features of Windows 10 and announced that it would become a free standalone application in Microsoft Store.
Microsoft had envisioned Paint 3D as a replacement. However, Paint continued to be included with Windows 10. Microsoft eventually reversed course and announced an updated Paint version in Windows 11.
MS-Paint is an excellent little tool for drawing shapes, arranging copy and pasted images, cropping, re-sizing, and basic drawing features.
It has been used significantly for things like pixel-art and tilemap designs mainly because each element in the image is a simple block of color with no variation or blending.
Pressure sensitivity. MS-Paint is not so good for anyone trying to learn how to draw or paint digitally. It lacks the one feature that is crucial to getting a nicer-looking image...
As you learn to draw using a pencil and paper, you also know the ability to vary the pressure you apply through the pencil. This varying pressure is precisely what pencil drawings their acceptable range of tones and line quality.
