  • Linking allows you to connect to data in another database without having to import it, allowing you to access and alter the most up-to-date data in both the source and destination databases without having to create and maintain two copies of the same information. Only tables from another Access database can be linked. Queries, forms, reports, macros, and modules cannot be linked to.
  • Many methods exist for transferring data from one Access database to another. The easiest way is copying and pasting, but importing and linking give you more control and flexibility over the data you bring and how you enter it into the destination database.
  • The following are the general steps in the data import process:
  • Prepare for the importation process.
  • Activate the Import Wizard
  • Save the import settings as an import specification to reuse them later.
