  • You can refer to data in worksheet cells by providing cell references in the formula arguments when you build a basic formula or a formula that employs a function. When you enter or pick cell reference A2, for example, the formula calculates the result using the value of that cell. A range of cells can also be referred to.
  • To enter a formula in a cell, click it.
  • Type = Button picture in the formula bar (equal sign).
  • Select the cell containing the desired value or type the cell reference.
  • A single cell, a range of cells, a place in another worksheet, or a location in a different workbook can all be referenced.
  • When picking a range of cells, you can relocate the selection by dragging the cell selection's border, or expand the selection by dragging the corner of the border.' The initial cell reference is B3, and the colour is blue, with a blue border and square corners around the cell range.
  • The second cell reference is C3, which has a green border with square corners and a green colour.
  • Press Enter.
