Steps to fix Microsoft Edge close itself after being unresponsive:

  • Change the default search engine to something other than Google.-Open the Microsoft Edge browser. To access the menu, go to the upper right corner of the screen and select 'Menu' (the three dots). Select Privacy, Search, and Services from the Settings menu. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Address bar and search. Select an option other than Google from the drop down box.
  • Search Suggestions can be turned off.-Open the Microsoft Edge browser. To access the menu, go to the upper right corner of the screen and select 'Menu' (the three dots). Select Privacy, Search, and Services from the Settings menu. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Address bar and search. Select Show me search and site ideas using my typed characters and Show me suggestions from history, favourites, and other data on this device using my typed characters by checking the two boxes next to them.
  • Cookies and Cache should be cleared Open the Microsoft Edge browser. To access the menu, go to the upper right corner of the screen and select 'Menu' (the three dots). To manage and delete cookies and site data, go to Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data. View the whole list of cookies and site data. Select Remove everything. Microsoft Edge should be restarted.
  • Windows should be updated.-Select the Settings option from the Start menu. Check for updates by going to Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
