- On January 15, 2020, Microsoft released the new Microsoft Edge, which is based on Chromium. It works with all supported Windows and Mac OS X versions. It's the only browser you'll ever need, thanks to its speed, performance, best-in-class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security measures.
- Until the launch of Chromium Edge, which is based on the same code base as Google Chrome, Brave, and Chrome Canary, it was solely developed on Microsoft's own technology. Microsoft's Chromium-based Edge browser is available for macOS, iOS, and Android in addition to Windows 10, 8, and 7.
- The most noticeable difference between Chromium Edge and the original Microsoft Edge is the capability for plug-ins. Edge had a paucity of plug-ins, especially at debut, although Chromium Edge is compatible with the majority of Chrome extensions. If you're switching from Chrome to Chromium Edge, you should be able to keep all of your existing extensions for a smooth transfer.
