Officials announced on Monday, February 14, 2022, that Vineet Joshi, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education, has been appointed as CBSE Chairman.

Vineet Joshi is the present Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA). He previously served as the Chairman and Secretary of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India, as well as the Manipur Government's resident commissioner. IAS Since February 14, 2022, Vineet Joshi has served as Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).


He attended Annie Besant School in Allahabad and GIC in Allahabad. Joshi graduated from IIT Kanpur with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in business administration from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. He is a member of the 1992 batch of IAS (Manipur cadre) and began his career in Manipur's Youth Affairs and Sports department. In 1999, he began working as a private secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. He performed as a private secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. He was appointed chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education late in 2010.
