Reason Mac making a whirring noise and steps to  fix it:

  • When your computer overheats, the fan on your MacBook turns on. However, if it runs for an excessive amount of time or is too loud, there may be another reason to consider.
  • Examine your apps and browser tabs.-The more apps and browser tabs you have open, the more likely it is that your Mac will need to use its fan to stay cool.
  • Keep vents free of debris.-The MacBook Pro's sides and rear edge have vents, while the MacBook Air's back edge has vents. Cool air is drawn in and hot air is expelled through these vents.
  • Clean and open it up.
  • Put your fans to the test.-There's a risk that something is wrong with the cooling fan on your MacBook, which is causing it to overheat.
  • The SMC should be reset.-Try resetting the System Management Controller if your Mac is clean and grime-free, and you keep your apps and tabs in check, but the fan still spins regularly and loudly (SMC).
