Bhutan has adopted India's BHIM UPI.
BHIM UPI, the Indian government's digital payment software, was inaugurated in Bhutan by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her Bhutanese colleague Lyonpo Namgay Tshering in a virtual event.
According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Bhutan is the first country in India's immediate neighborhood to utilize the BHIM software for mobile-based payments and 'to embrace UPI standards for its QR rollout.'
The service was launched in Bhutan as a component of India's neighborhood first approach, and India is pleased with our achievement and glad to provide it with our beloved neighbor. With over 100 million UPI QRs produced in the previous 5 years, BHIM UPI is one of the brightest spots and successes for digital transactions in India during the COVID-19 epidemic.
