Steps to speed up Firefox :

Firefox is loading slowly. What should I do?

  • Firefox can take a long time to start up if you've had it installed for a while. Click the menu button in the top-right corner of Firefox and select Options to make Firefox boot faster. If you want to go straight to about: preferences, type  in the address bar.
  • Uncheck the Always check if Firefox is your default browser option on the left side of the General tab. Firefox will no longer waste time asking if you want to change your default browser every time you start it.
  • Uncheck the Restore previous session box at the top of this list. Firefox will not load the tabs you had open the last time you used it if you do this. Restoring a previous session could cause Firefox to start slowly if you had a lot of tabs open or were browsing a large website.
  • Finally, on the left, select the Home tab. Set the top dropdown box to Blank Page under New Windows and Tabs. Instead of loading a long-loading website, this will always open a new blank tab when you activate it. You may also set New tabs to open as Blank Pages to reduce drag on them.
