India has signed its first major defense system export contract with the Philippines, worth $375 million, for the BrahMos shore-based anti-ship missile structure.
The BrahMos
is a medium-range supersonic ramjet cruise missile that can be opened from
submarines, ships, aircraft, or land. It is remarkable as being one of the
speediest supersonic cruise missiles on the planet. BrahMos Aerospace is a collaboration between the
Russian Federation's NPO Mashinostroyeniya and India's Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). It is based on Russian cruise missile technology such as the
P-800 Oniks and other similar sea-skimming Russian cruise missiles. The name BrahMos is a blend of 2 rivers, the
Brahmaputra in India and the Moskva in Russia.

It is presently the globe's speediest anti-ship cruise missile in the procedure. Both the land-launched and ship-launched variants
are already in use. India desired that the BrahMos be centered on a mid-range cruise missile such as the P-700 Granit. Its propulsion system relies on a
Russian missile, and BrahMos Aerospace developed missile guidance. The missile is anticipated to be ordered for a total of US$13 billion.
