Impressions in Google Webmaster Tools Means:

  • A user has 'seen' a link to your site in Search, Discover, or News, which is referred to as an impression
  • An impression is counted whenever an item appears on the current page, whether or not the item is scrolled into view, when search results are grouped into pages, such as in desktop results, which normally show 10 items per page. To count an impression, the item must be scrolled into view for scrolling results without paging, such as picture search on mobile. If you have to click to see more results, an impression is counted when it is in the current set of results, regardless of whether it has been scrolled into view.
