The Sangeet Natak Akademi arranges the 'Deshaj' festival around the country to promote and maintain tribal culture and art.
The
Sangeet Natak Akademi is a national-level dramatic arts academy established by the
Government of India. It was created by the Indian education ministry on May 31, 1952, and it began operations the following year with the selection of its
first chairman, Dr. P. V. Rajamannar. On January 28, 1953,
India's 1st President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, dedicated it in a ceremony performed at
Parliament House. The Fellowship and Award of the Academy are highly regarded.
The academy serves as the country's top organization for the performing arts, preserving and promoting
India's immense cultural legacy as portrayed via music, dance, and theatre. It also collaborates with
governments and art academies throughout the country's states and territories. Over the years, SNA has built several institutes and centers.
