- In iOS 14.8 and iOS 15, there's a severe flaw that allows anyone to view your Notes app without having to unlock your phone. They must complete a specific set of behaviours, but if they know the trick and have your phone, they can make it happen.
- Jose Rodriguez, a researcher, found the flaw, which was later highlighted by Apple Insider.
- The person must first have the phone in their hand. Control Center must also be available on the lock screen, and Notes and Clock must be included in Control Center.
- Rodriquez first asks Siri to enable VoiceOver in order to access the app. He then goes to Control Center and selects Notes. This will start the process of creating a new note, but it is far from complete. Rodriquez relaunches Control Center, activates the stopwatch, and then selects the Notes app that was previously open. Instead of the same empty note, iOS allows users to access the Notes database, which has previously stored material.
