the reason that Skype won't let me make a call:
- Examine Your Internet Connection-Check to see if it's a network issue. If you don't have a network connection, Skype will not work. This is true whether you're using Skype on the web, on your phone, on your PC, or on any other device. If you're having difficulty with your Wi-Fi, try rebooting your router or following our troubleshooting steps. If other websites are functioning smoothly, it's possible that the reason Skype is unable to make calls or is having dropped calls is due to a lack of bandwidth.
- When you uninstall Skype and then reinstall it, you're effectively resetting the software and all of its connections to your camera and microphone.
- If you're using Skype on Windows and are still unable to make or receive video calls, you should check the device driver for your webcam and sound card. If either is broken, your camera and/or sound will stop working in any application, including Skype, and you may need to update your drivers.
