Why is Microsoft shutting down Skype for Business?
  • Skype, which you can use from your home, is ideal for small enterprises with less than 20 employees. It is free to use unless you wish to purchase credit to call landlines and mobile phones.
  • You can hold audio, video, and web conferences with anybody inside or outside your company using Microsoft Teams. Teams of ten or ten thousand can gather in one location, regardless of how many locations they are in. With enterprise-grade security, you can simply share files, participate in one-on-one and group chats, and more. You can also use Skype to communicate with Microsoft Teams users in one-on-one chats and calls.
  • Skype for Business allows you to hold online meetings with up to 250 people, has enterprise-grade security, allows you to manage employee accounts, and is integrated with Microsoft Office. Skype for Business is being phased out in favour of Microsoft Teams.
