Why do we need such Act?
When we select an authority to govern the public of the nation then it is obvious that it will make
some policies for the
development of the society and the people of the nation. Here the word
development means the infrastructure, roads, gardens, transports like rail any many other purposes, then the authority needs the land for development and he has the right to take out our land but, in place of our land, he will compensate us as according to the value of our land and area. For the assurance of justifiable compensation and to avail legal remedy there should be some rules and statutes should be given by the law.
These statutes are called the act which is justified by the Supreme of the nation.
The act was formulated during the period of the
British government of then India and it was passed by the Imperial Legislative Council. Which was
enacted in 1894. This act was passed by the Britishers who were having the jurisdiction of India in terms of the policies and development of the nation.
They used to occupy the land of the people with the help of their own made rule in the act and this led to the movement of the Indian people.

It was the need of the time because the people of the country were ruled by the so
old act of 1894. And as the society was changed and according to the philosopher of the law says that the law should be changed as the change happens in the society. and the Bill for Changement in the act was introduced on 7 September 2011 in the Lok Sabha and it was passed on 29 August 2013 by the lower house of the parliament and passed by the Rajya Sabha on 4 September 2013. And the act came into
force on 1 January 2014.
