In the year 1900, India took part in the biggest world level multi-sports event Olympics. It was British India (India before independence in 1947) which took part in the event with a single athlete Norman Pritchard.
India won two medals (both silver) in athletics and since its debut in 1920, it has participated in every Summer Olympics.
