The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing the Swadhar Greh Scheme. This scheme has been launched to help the women who have been victims of difficult circumstances; and need emotional support for rehabilitation. The scheme comprises of providing shelter, food, clothing and health as well as economic and social security for these women.
- Residential accommodation will be given to women temporarily where they will be provided with fooding, clothing & shelter.
- For making them financially independent, vocational training, skills and programs will be delivered for such women.
- Counselling (telephonic or face-to-face) for their personal reasons and behavioral training will be given.
- Also, any kind of legal or medical aid will be provided to them.
Who all will be covered under this scheme:
- Survivors of natural disasters who have lost their homes and are currently without any social or economic support
- Victims of domestic violence, family tension or discord who are forced to leave their homes and are living without emotional or financial support. They could stay upto 1 year.
- Those who are facing litigation with regard to marital disputes.
- Prisoners released from jail or victims rescued from trafficking/brothels who do not have any social or financial support
- Women affected by HIV/AIDS who do not have any kind of social, medical or financial support.
- Children of the aforementioned women: Girls up to the age of 18 years and boys up to the age of 8 years would be allowed to stay in the Swadhar Greh with their mothers.
- To look after the women in distress and cater to their financial needs as well as their needs of fooding, clothing, shelter.
- To help women overcome whatever unfortunate has happened with them and regain their emotional strength.
- To rehabilitate them economically and financially.
- To stand as a pillar of support system for them: which helps them, understands them and look after them till they are happy again.
- To help them start a new and fresh life with dignity.
