“Sanjiv Puri” was appointed as the new Chairman of ITC, the leading FMCG group of ITC Ltd. He took over as the Chairman due to the sudden demise of Y. C. Deveshwar the Chairman and Non-Executive Director of the diversified conglomerate company.
He joined ITC in 1986, when it was only the cigarette company and then slowly diversified its business in retail, packaged foods, papers, and packaging industry. Since, 2015, Sanjeev Puri been the Director of the Board of Company. In the year 2017, he was made the CEO of ITC and took the independent charge of the executive leadership at ITC. He was an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and Wharton School of Business. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Kolkata headquartered company since July 2016.
ITC is the owner company of the famous apparel brand WLS i.e. ITC Wills Lifestyle. He had led ITC Infotech India Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company as its Managing Director from May 2006 to August 2009. It is even expected that he will take over the role of Chairman by 2021-22, and is being mentored by Deveshwar for the post of chairman. He started his career in the ITC group as the Brand Manager for various categories.
