The researchers at IIT Mandi in collaboration with the Central Potato Research Institute, have developed an AI-based model for automated disease detection in potatoes, using their leaves.

Features:

• Uses AI techniques to highlight the diseased portion of the leaf.
• Can detect blight in potato leaf images.
• Can accurately highlight the diseased portion of the leaf
• Preciseness of 98% over the leaf images in the field environment.

Which IIT have developed an AI based disease detector?

When the farmer will take a picture of a potato leaf to find out if it is diseased or unhealthy, the application would automatically detect the accurate results in real-time.
With prior knowledge, it would be helpful for the farmers to spray the disinfectants. It will save time and cost to spray unnecessary fungicides.
