Veselin Matic is a Serbian origin, retired international basketball player. He played from 1980 to 1988. He is currently serving as the head coach of the Indian Basketball Team whose FIBA ranking is currently 74 in the world. Previously he was the head coach of the Iranian national team from 2009 to 2012.
His son is also a basketball player. His name is Andrija Matić who played for American University and currently plays for the Keiser University team as a CF (Centre Forward) position player. Under his coachship India became the South Asian Games Champions 2019.
He is known for scouting skills, nurturing new talent and strict team management which has proved to be fruitful for India at the Asia level. He was highly talented but was undrafted during his NBA stint back in 1982.
