The Bravery Awards were announced on the auspicious occasion of 73rd Independence Day. Abhinandan Current, the wing commander of the Air Force, will be awarded the Vir Chakra. At the same time, it was announced to give the war service medal to Squadron Leader Minty Agarwal of the Indian Air Force. Minty was in the role of fighter controller during the conflict with the Pakistani Air Force on 27 February after an airstrike in Balakot, Pakistan.
Eight Army Personnell has been announced to be awarded the Shaurya Chakra. Five of them will be awarded posthumously.

Air Force Wing Commander Amit Ranjan, Squadron Leaders Rahul Bosaya, Pankaj Bhujade, BKN Reddy and Shashank Singh have been awarded the Air Force Medal for the attack on the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed's bases in Balakot. They are all pilots of the Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft.
