Sahara desert is the most massive and largest desert in the world. Which is located all over Northern Africa, stretching over the whole area of northern Africa, covers nearly 4,800 km (3,000 miles) from east to west and between 1,300 km and 2,000 km from north to south and has a total area of some 8,600,000 square km (3,320,000 square miles); the exact distance modifies as the desert expands and contracts over time to time. The Sahara desert is adjoined in the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the north by the Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, to the east by the Red Sea, and to the south by the Sahel - Transitional zone is formed from the semiarid region between the north of the Sahara and the region of humid savannas in the south.
