The President has the power to dismiss the governor of the state. Only he can select the state governor and dismiss or remove him from the respective post.

Who can dismiss Governor of a state from his office?

Following are the only circumstances under which the governor of a particular state can be removed or dismissed by the president of India:
If he has resigned. In case the governor wants to resign, then the president can dismiss him from his post and can assign a new governer for the particular state
If the acts performed by him are against the constitution. In case the decisions and acts performed by him are against the constitution of India then he can be dismissed only by the power of the President and no one else can remove him from his post. After the dismission, a new governor gets assigned/ selected for the state
Under Article 157 and Article 158 of the Constitution of India following are the qualifications required for the selection as Governor of the state:
Age must be at least 35 years. In case the age is less than 35 years then the candidate is disqualified
Should not be a member of Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha or state legislative
Should not hold any office of profit
If all the above requirements are fulfilled then a new governor of the respective state is chosen by the president after the dismission
Moreover, the powers and duties of the governor are almost similar to the duties of the president but limited up to the state only whereas the powers and functions of the president are across the country.
Now let's know a bit more about the governor.
He acts as a nominal head just like the president on the center but the actual powers are in the hands of the chief minister just like the prime minister when it comes to the center.
Functions and roles performed by state governer are the preservation of the constitution and laws, and also to defend and protect the same.
Some of his big power is that under certain circumstances he can impose president rule as well.
Therefore, the governor of the state can only be dismissed by the President of India
