If deleting your
iPhone's background apps doesn't work, consider doing a soft reset. As a result, you'll be able to clear any incorrect cache that may have created issues with
Google services, specifically the
Gmail app on your iPhone. Simply follow these instructions to soft reset your
iPhone XS Max:
1. Press and hold the Side and Volume buttons at the same time for a few seconds.
2. When the Slide to Power Off command displays, release both buttons.
3. To switch off the phone, drag the Power off slider to the right.
4. Press and hold the Side button for another 30 seconds until the Apple logo shows, then release.
The typical soft reset won't work if your iPhone becomes unresponsive after the Gmail app crashes. In this scenario, use these procedures to force your iPhone XS Max to
restart:
1 Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
2. Finally, hold down the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
Both of these restart techniques do not affect any saved data on the phone's internal memory, therefore no backups are required.
