- Go to the Settings menu.
- Select Mail, Contacts, and Calendars from the drop-down menu.
- Select the email account and tap it.
- Re-tap on the account if necessary.
- Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.
- Tap the right-arrow (>) next to SMTP server details under Outgoing Mail Server (hostname).
- Right underneath Primary Server, tap the right arrow next to the hostname.
- Enable the 'Use SSL' option.
- The authentication method must be 'Password.'
Make sure you go over all of the critical server details, including the following:
smtp.server.com is an example of a hostname.
Your whole email address, including the information following @, is your username (domain name).
Password – Your email's valid password. Re-enter the password if necessary.
Your email service provider will supply you with the server port number.
