On the Mail app, double-check your email account settings.

  1. Go to the Settings menu.
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, and Calendars from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select the email account and tap it.
  4. Re-tap on the account if necessary.
  5. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.
  6. Tap the right-arrow (>) next to SMTP server details under Outgoing Mail Server (hostname).
  7. Right underneath Primary Server, tap the right arrow next to the hostname.
  8. Enable the 'Use SSL' option.
  9. The authentication method must be 'Password.'
Make sure you go over all of the critical server details, including the following:

smtp.server.com is an example of a hostname.
Your whole email address, including the information following @, is your username (domain name).
Password – Your email's valid password. Re-enter the password if necessary.
Your email service provider will supply you with the server port number.
