Not only does a soft reset remove unexpected software faults, but it also deletes cache data, which helps free up space on your iPhone's internal memory.
Here's how to correctly perform a soft reset on your iPhone 8:
- For at least 10 seconds, press and hold the Side (Power) button until the red slider displays.
- Drag the slider to totally turn off the iPhone.
- Allow 30 seconds to pass.
- Press and hold the Side button for another 30 seconds, or until the Apple logo shows.
You may now restart your device from the settings menu in iOS 11. If you'd rather restart your iPhone 8, go to Settings-> General->Shut Down. After that, your smartphone will shut off. Wait 30 seconds before turning it back on. This method has no effect on data, therefore it's a safe and straightforward approach to begin with. After the reboot, check to verify if your iPhone speaker is operating correctly.
