In Control Center on your iPhone or iPad, you may instantly adjust the brightness:

Swipe down from the top-right corner of your display on an iPhone X or later, or an iPad with iOS 12 or iPadOS. Swipe up from the bottom edge of your display on an iPhone 8 or earlier, or an iPod touch.
To alter the brightness, drag the brightness bar up or down.
