In Microsoft Windows Server, a child domain is a domain in a domain tree whose Domain Name System (DNS) name is a subdomain of a parent domain. If the parent or corporate domain is microsoft.com, for example, dev.microsoft.com, marketing.microsoft.com, and support.microsoft.com are some examples of typical child domain names.
