Chetan Bhagat is the author of FIve Point Someone. It is a very popular book in the genre of fiction sold worldwide. 

The book depicts the story of 3 engineering students and their life and relationships. The book also has film adaptions in Hindi as well as Tamil cinema. 

Hindi Adaption is through a movie called3 Idiots featuring Amir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, R. Madhvan and Boman Irani in lead roles. The film's worldwide lifetime gross was ₹459.96 crore (US$90 million),making it the highest-grossing Indian film at the time. 

Tamil Adaption is through a movie named Nanban featuring Vijay, Srikant, Ileana D'Cruz, Jiiva and Sathyaraj in lead roles. The film was also screened at the Melbourne Film Festival. Indian Express reported the film grossed ₹150 crore at the box office. Also, the lead actor of the movie, VIjay, was awarded the Best Actor and Best Entertainer Awards of that year. 

It also shows how the families of these students impact them in life, it takes various twists and turns about how they lament about IIT systems, their professors but later they cope from that experience.

• The Publisher's Recognition Award (2005)
• It was adapted into a play by the theatre company 'Evam' which took it on a national tour in India in 2010.
