A
105-year-old Urdu copy of
Shri
Ramcharitmanas was discovered in a
junk market in
Hauz Khas,
New Delhi.
Three years ago, a pile of damaged books yielded a book penned by
Shiv Brat Lal, a resident of
Bhadohi district, in 1904 and afterward printed at
Lahore's Half-Tone factory in
1910.
The Sankat Mochan temple priest family paid 600 rupees for the book.
The copy includes a 20-page prologue and four hand-drawn photographs, one of which includes images of Lord Ram, Sita, Laxman, and Hanuman, as well as Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh.
The Urdu copy of the book was discovered by the priest's family while hunting for an ancient
manuscript of Sri Ramcharitmanas that had been taken from the Sankat Mochan temple at Tulsi Ghat, along with other valuable items related to
Goswami Tulsidas. The text was stolen from the Sankat Mochan temple, and a team from the temple was hunting for it.
