2009 second T-20 world cup was hosted by England wherein 12 countries participated. The total number of matches played were 27. India lost consecutive matches by Weston dies and South Africa thus losing hope for being second-time world champion. The final match was played between Srilanka and Pakistan at Lord’s in London. Pakistan defeated Srilanka with 8 wickets haul becoming the second champion of T-20 World Cup. Sahid Afridi was given Man of the match award of his fine knock of 54 in just 40 balls. Srilankan player Tilakratne Dilshan was awarded as Man of the series.
Earlier it is important to note that the first world under limited over format was won by India defeating Pakistan in close combat thus becoming the first country to win T-20 world cup under the able captainship of MS Dhoni.
