In the second Test match in Kolkata (then Calcutta), he scored 194 runs in the first innings, followed by 162 in the second innings, as the West Indies won by an innings and 336 runs. In the third Test match in Chennai (then Madras), he scored 161 runs in the first innings and an unbeaten 48 in the second innings, as the West Indies won by an innings and 56 runs.

Weekes completed his run of five centuries in five successive innings in the fourth Test match in Delhi. He scored 162 runs in the first innings and 101 runs in the second innings, as the West Indies won by an innings and 56 runs. His total runs scored during the five innings were 779, with an average of 155.80.

Weekes' run of form was not only significant for his individual performance but also for the success of the West Indies team on the tour. The West Indies won the series 1-0, with three wins and one draw. The tour was also notable for being the first Test series played by India after gaining independence from British colonial rule.
