Established in the year 1994 Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is the sixth member of IIT fraternity. Academic programme started one year later in the year 1995 currently IIT Guwahati has 5 inter-disciplinary academic centres which cover all the integral science, engineering and humanities disciplines, offering BTech, BDes, MA, MDes, MTech, MSc and Ph.D. programmes and 11 other departments offering BTech, BDes, MA, MDes, MTech, MSc and Ph.D. programmes.
In a very short duration of time IIT Guwahati got transformed and now it is recognized among one of the finest institutes with a world-class infrastructure and also for practicing advanced research equipped with state-of-the-art scientific and engineering instruments.
