DECEMBER 22, 2017: Jayanta Madhav Bora was granted the year's Sahitya Akademi Award for his Assamese epic "Moriahola", while Rita Bodo was for her Bodo tale "Thuisam"as Sahitya Akademi, India's public foundation of letters, on Thursday reported its yearly honors perceiving the abstract works of 24 essayists writing in 24 Indian dialects.
"Seven books of books, five of verse, five of short stories, five of scholarly analysis and one of play and expositions have won the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2017," K Sreenivasarao, secretary, Sahitya Akademi, said.
The honors will be given upon the champs during a function on February 12 one year from now.
Mamang Dai's name has been chosen for his English epic "The Black Hill" while Rajen Toijamba (Manipuri) has been granted for his play.
Niranjan Mishra is in the rundown of champs for his Sanskrit epic "Gangaputravadanam", KP Ramanunni has won for "Daivathinte Pusthakam" in Malayalam and Nachhattar for his Punjabi epic "Delayed Down".
