In my opinion, Vipassana Meditation or Sayagyi U Ba Khin Tradition and Yoga Meditation are two of the best ways to meditate, for students.
Reasons???
- Vipassana is a form of ancient Indian mediation that was practiced more than 2500 years ago. Even the ‘Mindfulness meditation’ movement in the US has its roots from this form. What it means is to see things as they truly are. It is a form of ‘retreat’ means ‘taking yourself back in time’. When you retreat yourself you learn to see things in their true form.
As a student, your mind needs to be clear for all the useless things that are being fed into you sometimes, to focus entirely on your growth. You will learn to differentiate between what is your mind and body- YOU are different from your thoughts and emotions. Sometimes you need to shut your emotions down for your body to fully function. It would be very helpful in academics as you won’t get caught up in your mind’s unguarded thoughts. You will understand ‘impermanence’- nothing lasts forever.
Yoga Meditation is also an ancient Indian form of meditation. ‘Yoga’ is a form of exercise for the mind and body; it is done through various poses to improve flexibility & posture of the body and to calm down the mind.
Being a student, there is bound to be a never-ending race and expectation to perform well in academics, to ensure growth. Thus, Yoga meditation helps in doing both. It will help you in developing a correct posture during the early years of your life and also, improve your thinking ability. You will be able to be more attentive, aware, better focused about yourself & your surroundings.
Meditation is the art of improving one’s personality by observing oneself. It is not an activity; it’s a way of living. Thus, one must start practicing it during the very early years of his/her life to ensure transcendence and contentment in future.
Cheers!
