Does spirituality work?

To understand if spirituality works or not, we have to really find a calm and relaxed place to sit and think about it. Spirituality does not depend on any textual knowledge, it can only be practiced with our moral conscience, our beliefs and values. It gives direction to our soul.

When we sit in a quiet place and think about our day’s activities we may be able to figure out what all we have done is moral or immoral in nature. Spirituality works in various ways. When we tend to connect with something bigger than ourselves, we may experience a different kind of peace, awe, contentment, sense of self and motivation for achieving a peaceful life.
When a well at some village is filled by rainwater, it quenches the thirst of every villager; similarly when we practice spirituality we are filled with spiritual thoughts and motives we tend to be really compassionate and empathetic towards others. And once we notice how things start to change around us and also within ourselves, it gives direction to our soul.
As we may understand that spirituality does not depend on any religion and could only be governed by one’s conscience; we may find it easy to say that the realization of one’s true nature of soul is what drives us towards spirituality.
It works both for the person who is spiritual as well as the outer world. When a human being finds a connection between his soul and his conscience, he becomes less concerned about the materialistic world. He finds various ways of practicing self-care, self-enlightenment, compassion, reasons for being thankful, and peace within himself.
So, we may say that yes, Spirituality does work for the person who is truly aware of himself and what his soul is. Some say that when you realize there is God then only you can practice spirituality. It is not true. To be a believer or non-believer of God doesn’t require anything to be concerned with spirituality. It is totally one’s personal belief and doesn’t affect his or her character or morals.
