Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH) is a relatively small molecule that is released by the Pituitary Gland’ and present in the brain.

What is the full form of ADH?

Antidiuretic Hormone
ADH is also called arginine vasopressin. It’s a Hormone made by the Hypothalamus and store in the previous gland that is known as the Pituitary Gland.
It tells that how much water a Kidney could consume. It continuously regulates and balances the amount of water in the human Blood this is helpful to diagnose the level of water in the blood because sometimes the over amount of water increase the pressure of vessels and can cause various injury to our health system.

Osmotic sensors and baroreceptors work with ADH in the maintenance of water metabolism.
These Osmotic sensors which are present in the Hypothelmus react directly to the concentration of particles in the blood. The particles which are present there include Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, and Carbon dioxide.

Whenever the particle concentration is not balanced or in other words the Blood Pressure is too low then it sends the signals to the Kidneys to store or release water to maintain the healthy range of these substances. They also regulate the sense of thirst in our bodies.

ADH level in our body
The normal range of ADH in the Human body is 1-5 picograms per milliliter. This normal range can vary from one laboratory to another due to many reasons and the ADH levels are different from one person to another due to many reasons.

Deficiency of ADH in body
The Deficiency of ADH in the body is caused due to compulsive water drinking and in other words, we can say the low blood serum osmolality. And the deficiency of ADH in the body may cause central Diabetes Insipidus which is caused by the rare water metabolism disorder.

Excess of ADH in Body
Syndrome of inappropriate ADH may be the cause of the too much presence of ADH and if the condition is acute one may have suffered a Headache, nausea, or vomiting but in severe cases coma can also occur.
