The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has collaborated with Google to teach students digital safety. On 6 Feb 2018 Google and NCERT signed a pact to integrate specific course on ‘Digital Citizenship and Safety’ in Information and communication technology curriculum.
The primary motive of this collaboration is to train students from 1st standard to class 12th across 1.4 million schools in India where they will learn how to become good and responsible digital citizens.
This is what Union School Education Secretary Anil Swarup said on the occasion:
“Internet can be used be phenomenally in helping us, it has a potential of damaging the social structure and damaging an individual. It is extremely important for us to understand how we can keep ourselves safe,”
