"Stree Swabhimaan Initiative"

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has introduced the “Stree Swabhiman Initiative” through CSC Common Service Centre). This is a unique initiative to ensure good health and hygiene for women. Under this scheme, the government will provide eco-friendly menstrual pads to women.

This initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will focus mainly on "empowering women". Ravi Shankar Prasad (Electronics and IT and Law and Justice Minister) and Alphons Kannanathanam (Minister of State for Electronics and IT and Tourism - IC) will initiate this initiative.

The main objectives of the Stree Swabhiman Initiative are described below:

• This initiative will provide sanitary pads to girls and women in rural areas.

• The central government will spread awareness about the menstrual health and hygiene through this initiative.

• Apart from this, installation and maintenance of semi-automated and manual process production unit are easy and hassle-free.

• In addition, each production unit will generate employment for 8-10 women.

Important features of this initiative:

• The Common Services Center (CSC) is going to implement this initiative at the grassroots level across the country.

• CSC is committed to providing affordable, reliable and modern menstrual pads (to women and girls in rural areas. 

• This is a unique initiative of CSC to protect women's self-respect. 

• Similarly, these pads are safe to use and the price is also cheap.

• In addition, these pads will ensure the safety and hygiene of women.
