The Junagarh Fort is the most prominent fort in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Till 20th century, this fort was known as the Chintamani Mahal. This majestic fort remained unconquered even when thousands of attempts were made by perilous invaders. Hence, it is quite surprising that though it lacks the advantage of height, yet it remained protected against the vicious invasions.

History :
The bewitching Junagarh Fort was built by Raja Rai Singh, between 1588 - 1593 AD. He was the sixth ruler of Bikaner who ruled this place from 1571 to 1611 AD. The supervision of the construction of the fort complex was in the hands of Karan Chand, Raja Rai Singh's Prime Minister.
The construction of this fort began on 30th of January 1589 and was finished on 17th of February in the same year.
