1st January 1949, was the day when the Nationalization of Reserve Bank of India was inaugurated.
Well, that happened due to the act of Transfer to Public Ownership by Reserve Bank of India, 1948 wherein, all the shares were transferred to the name of Central Government by handing over to them a handsome compensation.
