My electric car’s estimated range drops noticeably on cold mornings, especially before the cabin has warmed up. I understand that heating uses energy, but the reduction seems larger than I expected, and it can be hard to tell how much is temporary versus a change in the battery itself.
How much winter range loss is typical, and does it depend more on the battery, the route, or how the car is preheated?
