Can a Smartwatch Detect Atrial Fibrillation Without Any Symptoms?

Some smartwatches can flag an irregular rhythm even when the person wearing one feels completely fine. If an alert appears without dizziness, palpitations, or shortness of breath, how should it be interpreted?

I’m wondering what these watch readings can and can’t tell someone about atrial fibrillation, and whether an occasional alert is useful information to bring to a clinician or more likely to create unnecessary worry. I’m not looking for a diagnosis—just a clearer sense of what the alert represents.
