I understand that a launch window is a period when a rocket can lift off, but I’m not clear on why the timing can be so narrow. For a mission to the Moon or another planet, is the window mainly about the target’s position, the spacecraft’s fuel limits, or conditions on Earth?
And when a launch is delayed beyond that window, does the mission usually wait until the next day, or can the next suitable opportunity be weeks or months away?
