India’s role in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War is often discussed through the military campaign and the creation of Bangladesh. I’m interested in what changed afterward in how India dealt with neighboring countries and major powers.
Did the war lead to a lasting shift in India’s foreign policy, or was its impact more specific to the regional situation at the time? I’d welcome perspectives that distinguish immediate diplomatic decisions from longer-term consequences.
