Some days my usual easy run feels comfortable, but my heart rate stays higher than I expect for much of the run and takes a while to settle afterward. On other days, the same route and pace look completely normal on my watch.
How much day-to-day variation in heart rate recovery is ordinary for a recreational runner? I’m curious what conditions—such as heat, poor sleep, hydration, or accumulated training fatigue—can affect the reading, and when a repeated change is worth discussing with a clinician.
